Today 50% of their wine is exported, a testament to its global success in such a short space of time. However Conterno Fantino remain true to their three guiding priciples of Land, Tradition & Time, the estate is considered one of the best, (if not the best!) Barolo producers & the quality of the wine is superlative. The Vigna de Gris Barolo combines Nebbiolo grapes from two top quailty vineyards combining old vine fruit with new Nebbiolo clonal selections from the past decade. In the glass a dark ruby red colour with garnet hues. The nose is elegant and floral with distinct red berry fruit and blackberry aromas coupled with cigar box and hints of mocha. The palate is generously fruity with notable damson, sour red and juicy black cherries combined with leafy notes, wa rming vanilla oak with subtle sweet black treacle toffe. The balance between tannins, fruit & acidity is finely proprtioned producing a satisfying, firm finish. www.conternofantino.it 100% Nebbiolo A statuesque Barolo requires strong flavours such as red meat; beef, lamb, venison, rich tomato sauced pasta dishes, wildfowl, roast chicken in red wine sauce, mature hard Italian cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano, Pecorino Vecchio, mature Cheddar Other Barolo winesRecently viewed wines |
