Founded in 1765 by an Irishman Richard Henessy the company merged with Moet & Chandon in 1971to create Moet Henessy before becoming part of Louis Vuitton in 1987, becoming LVMH. The quality of the Cognac remains superlative and has inspired a fan base that reaches across the world from rock stars & rappers to politicians & royalty. The term XO or Extra Old was first used by Maurice Hennessy to describe this Coganc, originally produced for only family & friends & blended from over a hundred year old Eaux de Vie`s that are carefully stored within the Hennessy cellars. Drak and complex in style with a fine structure, the nose conjures up aromas of rich dried fruits including dates, sultana & raisin combined with spiced tobacco notes.
