The average age of the vines used today is 30 years and the grapes are picked and meticulously sorted by hand to ensure the highest level of quality. The high level of concentrated fruit flavours and soft vanilla present in the wines of Cantemerle mean they can be enjoyed young if desired, but the fine tannic structure also allows them to age and develop over decades. Dark purple in colour the bouquest opens with pronounced blackcurrant, raspberry and cherry aromas coupled with hints of licorice, cocoa & a tinge of mint. Elegant and supple on the palate with deeper berry and cherry fruit flavours, soft cigar box spice and vanilla oak in a framework of fine tannins. www.cantemerle.com 55% Cabernet Sauvignon 35% Merlot 8% Petit Verdot 2% Cabernet Franc A Bordeaux of great elegance to be paired with classic beef and other red meat dishes such as Boeuf en Croute, Beef in a red wine sauce or classic steak with a pepper or mushroom sauce.
